Joining CIPR's advisory council

Recently I joined the advisory Council to the Board of my professional body, Chartered Institute of Public Relations, as a co-opted member. And I was with fellow members of CIPR at a fabulous event in London to mark the Institute's 75th anniversary.

In a busy week, I wasn't sure I could afford the time, but I'm glad I was there. It can be uplifting to re-connect with fellow members of your professional body and the service of commemoration at St Bride's Church, Fleet Street, was beautifully done.

Addresses by Simon Lewis OBE, Anne Gregory and Avril Lee, and then at the reception by CIPR President Steven Shepperson-Smith, reminded us how far the profession had come in 75 years, and just how much more progress there is to be made.

I'm looking forward to supporting CIPR in its 75th year as it strives to shape a diverse, inclusive, fit-for-the-future profession.

This is not a rude question. As an ex-journalist, I knew the interview was often my best chance to get the story. For the interviewee, they can be a positive experience also.
